A new PGA Tour season is underway this week at A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. In the 2017-2018 season, Kevin Na broke a seven-year winless drought with his five-shot victory over Kelly Kraft. This year, Na returns to defend his title against a tough field, which includes former Greenbrier winners Danny Lee and Stuart Appleby. Other notables include two-time major champion John Daly, and Viktor Hovland, who came close to securing his card last season, but managed todo so during the Korn Ferry Tour finals.
The Old White TPC Course: will host this event since 2010, with the exception of 2016 when the event was canceled due to flooding. It is one of the PGA Tour’s few tournaments that finishes in with apar-3, and it is the site of Australia’s Stuart Appleby’s final round 59.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Viktor Hovland: The 2018 U.S. AmateurChampion will make his first start as a member of the PGA Tour. After a successful run in the Korn Ferry Tour finals, he will have plenty of starts to get that first win and jumpstart what looks to be a fruitful career. Don’t be surprised to see him contending.
Joaquin Niemann:He’s still only 20 years old, and the Chilean sensation finished in a tie for fifth at this event last year. The only thing missing on his resume is a victory, and this is a great place for him to earn it.
