2019 Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open Wrap-Up
It was a week of low scoring at the Scottish Open, where Bernd Wiesberger out-dueled Benjamin Hebert in a sudden death playoff. Wiesberger began the final round with a two-stroke lead over Erik Van Rooyen, and began his first nine holes with a bogey at 2 and birdies and 7 and 9. Meanwhile, Benjamin Hebert began the day seven shots behind but was off to a hot start with 5 birdies to make the turn in 30 and close the gap to three shots. Hebert would add birdies on 10, 12, 13 and 17 with no bogeys to shoot 62 and post the clubhouse lead at 22-under par. Wiesberger’s birdies on 12 and 16 gave him a one-shot lead, but an untimely bogey at the 17th dropped him back into a tie with Hebert. A par on 18 sent them into a playoff, and on the 3rdplayoff hole, Bernd Wiesberger’s par was good enough for his 6th career European Tour victory.
Next week, the European Tour plays the finalmajor of the season at the Open Championship.
