The trend of to-the-wire finishes continued this week at the Alfred Dunhill Links Pro-Am, and Victor Perez emerged victorious by one shot over Matthew Southgate. They both began the day tied going into the final 18 holes, and despite a bogey on the opening hole, it was Southgate who took the early charge with birdies at 5, 6, 7, and 9. Meanwhile,Perez made two birdies with no bogeys on the front nine to stay within a shot. Victor’s bogey on 11 gave Matthew a two-shot lead, but the pivotal moment came at the par-5 14th. A Perez birdie and a Southgate bogey meant they were tied going into the last four holes. An untimely bogey at the Road Hole by Southgategave Perez the outright lead, and after a par on the last, Victor Perez earned his 1st career European Tour victory.
Next week, the European Tour heads to Madrid, Spain for the Open De Espana.
