Having a big lead with one round to go can be a scary proposition, but Christiaan Bezuidenhout was able to answer the challenge with a six-shot victory over 5 players at the Andalucia Masters. He began the day with a five-shot lead over Jon Rahm and Hideto Tanihara, and he added birdies at the 1st and 2nd holes. However, bogeys on 4 of the next 5 holes would shrink his lead to three. A birdie on 9 would match Rahm’s, and Bezuidenhout would take his three-shot advantage into the back nine. Christiaan’s birdies on 10 and 11, combined with Rahm’s struggles on 10 and 12 would open up a six-shot lead. Despite his bogey at 15, his final three pars were enough for the South African to earn his first European Tour victory and vault up to 9th in the Race to Dubai standings. Next week, the European Tour is headed to Ireland for the Irish Open.
