In a decade where half the winners of this prestigious event have been from England, Danny Willett, the 2016 Masters Champion, added his name to the list of BMW PGA Championship with a three-shot victory over Jon Rahm. The duo began the final round tied for the lead, and birdies on the 2nd and 3rd holes gave Danny an early edge. Rahm responded with a birdie on the 4th, but Willett answered back with a birdie on 8 to make the turn in 3-under 32 and take a two-stroke lead into the final nine. They both birdied the 10th, but Willett’s bogey on 11 brought Jon Rahm within a stroke; however, that would be as close as he would get, as he went bogey-birdie-bogey over the next three holes. Danny Willett matched birdies on 17 with Rahm, and capped off his final round 67 with a birdie at the last to earn his 7th career European Tour victory, and move into the top 10 of the Race to Dubai standings.
Next week, the European Tour heads to the home of golf for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
