2019 Porsche European Open Preview

The European Tour train keeps rolling this week at Green Eagle Golf Course at the 36th edition of the Porsche European Open. Last year, Richard McEvoy outlasted three other players by one stroke for his first European Tour victory, and he will make his first title defense on Tour against some of the best players in golf. Patrick Reed, 2018 Masters Champion, and Xander Schauffele have made the trip to Hamburg and are both ranked in the top 20 of the Official World Golf Rankings. Other notables in the field include recent Porsche European Tour winners Thongchai Jaidee and Alexandre Levy, as well as two-time winner this season Kurt Katayama.

LOCATION

Green Eagle Golf Course: is hosting this event for the second straight year. The finish of this golf course includes a short par-3 and two par-5 on 16 and 18, respectively, which always leads to an exciting finish on Sunday.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Xander Schauffele:  Coming off a runner-up finish in the PGA Tour season-ending Tour Championship, Xander comes to Europe with a great opportunity to make a run in the Race to Dubai. He is currently 10th in the standings, and a strong finish this week will be a great catalyst with three months remaining in the season.

Kalle Samooja: A steady string of made cuts was capped off by a runner-up finish last week in Sweden. The 2nd place finish helped him crack the top-80 in the Race to Dubai, and another solid finish will help Kalle solidify his playing privileges for the 2020 season
