The PGA Tour heads to Michigan this week for the Rocket Mortgage Classic, which is the first Tour event in the city of Detroit. Whoever wins this inaugural tournament will have to beat a fantastic field, including current world number-two Dustin Johnson, two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson, and current U.S. Open Champion Gary Woodland. Other notables in the field include Chez Reavie, who ended a long winless streak last week, and 5-time PGA Tour champion and fan favorite Rickie Fowler.
Detroit Golf Club :
will host its first major golf tournament this week. The Donald Ross-designed North Course is less than 7,000 yards; however, every Ross course requires great ball striking and precision putting in order to score well on them.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Brandt Snedeker: He’s the last person to win a Tour even on a Donald Ross design at the Wyndham Championship, and his game is suited perfectly for this golf course. A win this week would get him to double digits, so look for him to be in contention.
He has three top 10s and a win earlier this season in his rookie year puts Cameron in a great position for Rookie of the Year honors. Currently 53rd in the FedEx Cup standings, now is the time to make a run all the way to the Tour Championship.
