2019 Rocket Mortgage Classic Wrap-Up
Sometimes all it takes is one special week to change a player’s life on the PGA Tour, and it was that type of week for journeyman Nate Lashley, who captured the inaugural Rocket Mortgage Classic by six shots over Doc Redman. After a third round 63, Lashley had a six shot lead over J.T. Poston, the last player to get into the field started the final round with birdies at 1 and 3 to increase his lead to eight. Bogeys at 6 and 8 would shrink the lead to five strokes, but he was still in good shape heading into the back 9. After pars on 10 thru 12, a birdie on 13 increased the lead back to 6, and a birdie on 17 helped him maintain his cushion. A par on 18 was enough for a 2-under 70 and his first career PGA Tour victory.
Next week, the PGA Tour heads to Minnesota for the 3M Open.
