2019 Sanderson Farms Championship Wrap-Up
There were 0 sudden-death playoffs in the 2018-2019 PGA Tour season, but it only took two events to get there this season. In the end, Sebastian Munoz defeated reigning Rookie of the Year Sungjae Im on the first playoff hole. Munoz began the final round with a one-shot lead over Carlos Ortiz, and made 8 pars and his lone birdie on the par-5 3rd to head into the back 9 tied with Ben An. Meanwhile, Im made the turn in 4-under 32, and after a bogey on the 13th, rattled off three consecutive birdies to take the lead at 18-under, which would be good enough for the clubhouse lead. Sebastian birdied the 11th, but dropped a shot at the 15th to fall one stroke behind with three holes to go. Needing a birdie on 18, he poured in an 18-footer to force the playoff. When Im failed to make par, Sebastian Munozcould celebrates his first career PGA Tour victory, and take the early lead in the FedEx Cup Standings.
Next week, the PGA Tour heads to Northern California for the Safeway Open.
