2019 Shriners Hospitals for Children’s Open Wrap-Up
It was a nail-biting finish at the Shriners Hospitals for Children’s Open, but it was Las Vegas-native Kevin Na who outlasted Patrick Cantlay in a sudden-death playoff. Na started the final round with a two-shot lead over Cantlay, and a steady string of pars was broken with birdies on the 6th and 7th. Kevin dropped a shot on the 8th, but a birdie on the 9th gave him a three-shot lead with 9 holes to go. The 10th hole gave both Na and Cantlay trouble, with Kevin making a triple-bogey 7 and shrinking the lead to a shot with a Cantlay bogey. They both birdied the 12th and 13th, aswell as the 15th. A two-shot swing occurred on the 16th, which gave Cantlay a one-shot lead, but a bogey on 17 and a clutch par save from Na tied it up with one hole to go. They parred 18 to send the event into extra holes: birdies on the 18th sent them to the second playoff hole, and when Patrick failed to make par, Kevin Na earned his 4th PGA Tour victory and has a win in three consecutive seasons.
Next week, the PGA Tour heads to Texas for theHouston Open.
