European Tour fans were treated to an exciting final round at the Volvo China Open, where Mikko Korhonen defeated Benjamin Hebert in a sudden-death playoff to earnthe victory. It was Hebert who led after 54 holes, and lead Korhonen by 3 shots, but after 3 birdies in the first 6 holes, Mikko would tie the lead. A Korhonen bogey on the 8th followed by a birdie on 9 by Hebert would increase the lead back to two strokes as they made the turn.
The two golfers would tangle with the lead as Mikko Korhonen birdied 10 and 11,then matched Benjamin’s birdie on 12. A birdie on the 17th gave Mikko a one-shot lead going into 18, but Hebert’s clutch birdie at the last sent them to a playoff. A birdie on the 1st playoff hole gave Mikko Korhonen his 2nd career European Tour victory just 11 months after his first.
