Golf fans were treated to a dramatic final round at the World Golf Championships -- HSBC Champions, and in the end, Rory McIlroy defeated Xander Schauffele in a sudden-death playoff. Rory started the final round with a one-shot lead over Louis Oosthuizen, and a string of pars was finally broken with a birdie on the par-4 5th. He added two more birdies on the 8th and 9th and held a one-stroke lead over Schauffele with 9 holes to go. Rory increased his lead to two with his birdie on 14, but Xander closed the gap back to one with a birdie on 15. On the 72nd hole, Xander managed to make a birdie and forced a playoff; however, Rory McIlroy’s birdie on 18 in the first hole of the playoff was enough for him to earn his 18th career PGA Tour victory and 3rd career World Golf Championship.
