The trend of first-time PGA Tour winners continued this week in Greensboro, North Carolina, where North Carolina native J.T. Poston won by one stroke over Webb Simpson. Starting the day three shots behind 54-hole leader Byeong Hun An, J.T. birdied the 2nd hole, then eagled the5th to move into contention. Birdies on 7 and 8 helped Poston make the turn in30, and hold at least a share of the lead going into the back 9. J.T. added more birdies on 10, 13, and 15, and with pars on the final three holes, his 8-under62 was good enough to secure his first Tour victory and moves up to 27th in the FedEx Cup standings. He is also the first PGA Tour winner since 1974 to play 72holes without a bogey in an individual event.
Next week, the FedEx Cup Playoffs get started at The Northern Trust in Jersey City, New Jersey.
