Another Englishman has captured the Abu Dhabi HSBC, but this time, it was 46-year-old Lee Westwood who earned the title by two strokes over Tommy Fleetwood, Matthew Fitzpatrick, and Victor Perez. Westwood began the day with a one-shot lead over Bernd Wiesberger, and after apar on the 1st, made birdies on three of the next four holes. Another birdie on the par-5 8th, and Lee turned in 4-under 32, and maintained a two-shot lead over Fitzpatrick. He added another birdie on 12, and made three more pars before dropping his only shot of the final round on the 16th. Despite the bogey, he capped off his round with a birdie on the last for a 5-under 67 and his 25th career European Tour victory.
Next week, the European Tour heads north up the coast to Dubai at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
