2020 Genesis Invitational Preview
The PGA Tour returns to beautiful Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California for the 93rd edition of the Genesis Invitational. Last year, J.B. Holmes defeated Justin Thomas for his 5th-career PGA Tour title, and he will defend his crown against an elite field. Headlining the tournament is an unofficial tournament host and Los Angeles-area native Tiger Woods, who also made his PGA Tour debut here in 1991. Past winners in the field include three-time winner Bubba Watson and two-time winner Phil Mickelson. Other notables looking to add their name to such a prestigious winners list include Brendon Todd, who is currently 3rd in the FedEx Cup standings, and Patrick Cantlay, the two-time PGA Tour winner who went to college at nearby UCLA.
Riviera CC - will host this event for the 57th time in its 94-year history, and is one of the Tour’s most historic golf courses. It is also home to some unique golf holes, including the risk/reward par-4 10th, and the picturesque 18th, which can create plenty of drama for a player with a one-shot lead.
Bubba Watson: He’s won three of the last six Genesis Invitationals, and other than a withdrawal in 2017, hasn’t finished worse than tied for 15th in that same time span. The key for Bubba is getting the putter to cooperate, and with a win, he will join Lloyd Mangrum as the only 4-time winner of this event.
