2020 ISPS Handa Vic Open Wrap-Up
Low scoring was the theme at this week’s ISPS Handa Victorian Open, and it was Min Woo Lee who scored the lowest, winning by two shots over Ryan Fox. Lee started the day with a three-shot lead over Marcus Fraser and Travis Smyth, and he started his round with birdies on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th. Travis Smyth had a similar start, with birdies on 3 of the first 5 holes, and the lead remained three for Min Woo. A string of pars by two Smyth and Lee was finally broken when Smyth bogeyed the 14th; Lee birdied 16 to reach 9-under and hold a two-shot cushion over clubhouse leader Ryan Fox, who eagled the 18th for a final round 64. A bogey on 17 cut Lee’s lead to one shot, but a birdie on the last capped off a final round 68, and the Australian’s first career European Tour victory. The European Tour will take a week off before the World Golf Championships - Mexico Championship.
