2018 Emirates Australian Open Wrap-Up

The most historic golf event in Australia occasionally has surprise winners, and Mexico’s Abraham Ancer’s stunning five-stroke victory over Dimitrios Papadatos certainly qualifies as a surprise winner. Starting the final round with a five-shot lead over Japanese amateur Keita Nakajima, Ancer had an ideal front nine with birdies at 4, 8 and 9 with no bogeys to extend his lead going into the back nine. A lone bogey at the 12th was quickly recovered with birdie at 14, and a string of pars to close results in a 3-under 69 and the biggest win of his young, blossoming career.
