Golf fans were treated to an exciting team event at this year’s World Cup of Golf, and Team Belgium, comprised of Thomas Pieters and Thomas Dietry, emerged victorious by three strokes over Team Australia (Marc Leishman and Cameron Smith) and Team Mexico (Abraham Ancer and Roberto Diaz). Starting the day with a five-stroke lead over several teams, Team Belgium offset a bogey on 2 with an eagle on 4 to regain a strong lead over the field, and added two more birdies on 7 and 9 to pad their lead. Although Team Australia would shoot a bogey free 7-under 65 to post 20-under, they would have to settle for second place as Belgium would make 4 birdies and three bogeys on the back to shoot 68 and claim their first World Cup championship.
Next week, the European Tour and PGA Tour of Australasia head to Queensland for the Australian PGA Championship.
