2018 Mayakoba Golf Classic
Posted on November 04 2018
The PGA Tour heads South of the border at the Mayakoba Golf Classic. Last year, Patton Kizzire won his first career PGA Tour victory by one-stroke over Rickie Fowler. This year, he will defend his title against some of the best players in the world, including former world number one Jordan Spieth, who is looking for a spark after a winless 2017-2018 season. Other notables in the field include last week’s Sanderson Farms winner Cameron Champ, Mexico natives Abraham Ancer and Carlos Ortiz, and 3 time PGA Tour winner Gary Woodland.
El Camaleon Golf Club will host this tournament for the 12th time. With views of the Riviera Maya and carved out of a section of the pristine tropical jungle, the players love this course for its playability as well as its beauty.
Players to Watch:
Abraham Ancer: Not only is this tournament in his homeland, he is playing solid golf to begin the season. Fresh off a tie for 4th last week in Vegas, and currently 18th in the FedEx Cup standings, look for Ancer to be a factor this week.
Rickie Fowler: Having tied for 4th alongside Abraham Ancer, Rickie continues to play great golf. It’s been almost two years since he’s won on the PGA Tour, and he will be eager to improve on his runner-up finish last year at Mayakoba.
