2018 Ryder Cup Wrap-Up

It had been 25 years since the United States Team won a Ryder Cup in Europe, and it’ll be another four years before they return to the continent to try again after Europe’s resounding 17 ½-10 ½ point victory. Spurred on by the unstoppable duo of Open Champion Francesco Molinari and Tommy Fleetwood, who went 4-0 in team play, the European squad took a 10-6 lead going into Sunday singles. Although the American team would win three of the first five matches and close the gap to two points, Europe would go on to win the next four middle matches and secure the Cup with three matches still on the golf course.

The next Ryder Cup matches will take place in the States at Whistling Straits in late September 2020, while the United States’ next team competition will be next year at the famed Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Melbourne, Australia.

The new season is underway on the PGA Tour this week at the Safeway Open, while the Race to Dubai heats up at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
