2018 Turkish Airlines Open Preview
Posted on October 29 2018
The European Tour season and the Race to Dubai is quickly coming to a close, and the Turkish Airlines Open is one of the final three events. Last year, Justin Rose emerged victorious by one stroke over Dylan Frittelli and Nicolas Colsaerts. This year, he will be looking for the FedEx Cup/Race to Dubai double as he defends his title against a super stacked field, including past Turkish Airlines Open winners Victor Dubuisson and Thorbjørn Olesen. Other notables in the field include English stars Tommy Fleetwood and Tyrell Hatton, along with former major champions Martin Kaymer, Padraig Harrington and Danny Willett.
This is the tournament’s seventh edition, and the Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort will host it for the 3rd straight year. Since it opened in 2008, the course is frequently considered one of the top 100 golf courses in the world.
Players to Watch:
Justin Rose: Hard to bet against the defending champion, who is currently 10th in the standings. The 10-time European Tour winner is coming off a solo 3rd at the WGC – HSBC Champions, and a strong finish this week could go a long way in his quest for the Race to Dubai title.
Alexander Bjork: Currently 16th in the Race to Dubai standings, it’s been a great year for the 28-year-old Swede. A win this year along with a recent runner-up have him in position to make a solid run in the final three events of the season. Look for him to be a factor come Sunday.
