2018 WGC – HSBC Champions Wrap-Up
October 30 2018 – AARON CAMILLERI

The World Golf Championships are known for their prestige and producing world-class champions, and Xander Schauffele has demonstrated he’s amongst one of the best young players in the game after his playoff win over Tony Finau at this year’s HSBC Champions. Having started the day 3 shots behind Finau, Xander would make three birdies on his front nine, offset by only one bogey, to head into the back nine within a stroke of the lead. They would trade the lead over the back nine until a late bogey on 15 would but Schauffele one shot back; however, a birdie-birdie finish along with a Finau birdie at 18 would send them to extra holes. A birdie on the first playoff hole would seal Xander Schauffele’s third career PGA Tour victory as well as his first World Golf Championship.
Next week, the PGA Tour heads to Las Vegas, Nevada for the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, while the European Tour enters the final stretch of the Race to Dubai at the Turkish Airlines Open.
