The final round leaderboard was filled with proven winners, but in the end, it was the unheralded C.T. Pan who ended up with the plaid jacket at the RBC Heritage by one stroke over Matt Kuchar. Beginning the final round two strokes behind Dustin Johnson, C.T. had a steady start with birdies at 5 and 9 with no bogeys to make the turn in 2-under 33. Birdies on 10 and 12 gave him the outright lead, but would give a stroke back on the par-5 15th. His bounce back birdie on 16 would be the deciding factor, and after two closing pars, his 4-under 67 gave C.T. Pan his first career PGA Tour victory.
Next week, the PGA Tour heads to New Orleans for the season’s only official team event at the Zurich Classic.
