2019 Saudi International Wrap-Up
Posted on February 06 2019
The first professional golf tournament in Saudi Arabia provided plenty of great golf and an exciting finish, and the inaugural champion, Dustin Johnson, is certainly a premier name in golf. He started the day tied with Haotong Li, DJ took the lead with a birdie on the 2nd, but Li would birdie 4 and 9 to take a one-stroke lead going into the back 9. After the both bogeyed 10, Dustin Johnson would birdie 11 and 12, and after bogeys from Li on 13 and 14, DJ then opened up a 3-shot lead with 4 holes remaining. The key moment of the tournament occurred on 16, where Johnson made an 8-footer for bogey to maintain his lead. After birdies on 17 and 18, DJ would claim his first non-major or WGC European Tour title.
Next week, the European Tour heads back to Australian for the ISPS Handa Vic Open.
