2019 Sony Open in Hawaii Wrap-Up
Posted on January 14 2019
It was an exciting final round of golf in Honolulu at the Sony Open in Hawaii, where Matt Kuchar won by 4 strokes over Andrew Putnam. Starting the day with a two-shot lead over Putnam, Kuchar had a rocky start, with 3 bogeys in the first 5 holes with only one birdie to lose his lead. He would steady the ship, and a birdie on 9 helped him stay in the hunt despite making the turn in 1-over 36. The back nine, however, would be a different story for Matt Kuchar, as he made birdies on 10, 12, 15, 16 and capped off with a birdie on the last for a closing 30. The win is his 9th career PGA Tour victory and his second of the 2018-2019 season.
Next week, the PGA Tour heads to the mainland for the Desert Classic in Palm Desert, California.
