European Tour - 2018 Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open Wrap-Up
July 16 2018 – AARON CAMILLERI

History was flirted with this week at the Scottish Open, as Brandon Stone missed a 7-footer on the 18th hole which would have been the European Tour’s first ever 59. Instead, his final round 60 would lead him to a four-stroke victory over Eddie Pepperell. Having started the day two strokes back of a four-way tie for the lead, Brandon Stone started off with back-to-back birdies, and through 16 holes he had made eight birdies and an eagle, which meant he needed to play the last 2 holes at one-under to reach the magical 59. Unfortunately, his birdie putt at the last missed low. Regardless, it is his third career European Tour victory and his first since the 2016 Alfred Dunhill Championship. He is now 14th in the Race to Dubai Standings and punched his ticket to Carnoustie in next week’s Open Championship.
