The European Tour returns to Golf Club Gut Laerchenhof in Pulheim, Germany for the 30th edition of the BMW International Open. Last year, Andres Romero won by one stroke over Thomas Detry, Sergio Garcia, and Richard Bland. This year, he'll defend his title against some of the game's best, including past BMW International Open champions Ernie Els and Martin Kaymer. Other notables in the field include recent U.S. Open runner-up Tommy Fleetwood and German star Thomas Pieters.
Golf Club Gut Laerchenhof returns as the host club for the fourth time, alternating stints in 2012, 2014, and 2016. With the winning scores at this course being -17 and -19, respectively, expect more of the same this year.
Players to Watch
Tommy Fleetwood: The 27-year-old Englishman had a historic run in the U.S. Open with a final-round 63 that left him one stroke shy of Brooks Keopka. The now-10th ranked player in the world now has plenty of momentum heading into this week. Expect him to be a factor on the weekend.Thorbjørn Oleson: Depsite a tough outcome at Shinnecock Hills last week, Olesen is having a great month, capped off with a win in his last European Tour start at the Italian Open. Currently ranked 9th in the Race to Dubai standings, look for him to make his presence felt on Sunday.
