The European Tour returns to the city of Prague for the fifth annual D+D Real Czech Masters. Last year, Haydn Porteous defeated Lee Slattery by two strokes to claim the title, and he’s back this year to defend against an impressive roster. Jamie Donaldson and Thomas Pieters are past winners of this event and will look to add a second Czech Masters title to their trophy case. Other notables include multiple major champions Padraig Harrington and John Daly, last week’s winner Paul Waring, and Ryder Cup hopeful Eddie Pepperell.
Albatross Golf Resort has been the only host of this event since its inception in 2014. A Keith Preston design, it underwent a recent renovation, adding four lakes and bringing water into play all the way down the right side of 18. Any score double-digits under par should be good enough to win.
Players to Watch
Thomas Pieters: The Czech Masters is the final week for automatic Ryder Cup qualifying, and with his past success in this event, the 2016 Champion will be looking to impress captain Thomas Bjorn with another strong finish in this event.
Danny Willett: The 2016 Masters Champion has been trending in the right direction this summer. A T24 in the Open Championship after a top 10 in the Irish Open, he looks to be regaining the form that won him the green jacket. Look for him to be a factor this week in Prague.
