European Tour - 2018 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Wrap Up
July 09 2018 – AARON CAMILLERI

It was an exciting finish to an incredible week of golf, and it required extra holes to determine a winner. In the end, it was Scotland’s Russell Knox who emerged victorious in a playoff over New Zealand’s Ryan Fox. Starting the day six shots behind 54-hole leader Erik Van Rooyen, Russell played a nearly flawless final round which was kickstarted by an eagle at the par-5 4th. He would go on to make another five birdies offset by only one bogey, including a birdie at 18 to shoot a six-under 66 and force extra holes. Another birdie on the first playoff hole was good enough to seal the victory. It is Knox’s second career European Tour victory and his first since the 2015 WGC-HSBC Champions tournament.
Next week, the European Tour heads to East Lothian in the United Kingdom for the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open.
