The European Tour returns to Denmark for the fifth annual Made in Denmark event. Last year, Julian Suri defeated David Horsey by four strokes for his first Tour victory. This year, there will be a new champion as Suri is not in the field to defend. There is a strong field eager to add another European Tour title to their mantle, including past Made in Denmark champions Thomas Pieters and the aforementioned David Horsey. Other notables in the field include two time major champion John Daly, who held a share of the lead in the first round of last week’s Czech Masters, Danish native and Ryder Cup Captain Thomas Bjorn, and another two time major winner, Germany’s Martin Kaymer.
Silkeborg Ry GC takes over as the host course for the first time in tournament history. Designed by Thomas Bjorn, the layout should produce incredible scoring and a thrilling ending.
Players to Watch:
Thorbjørn Olesen: With three top six finishes in his last five starts, including a solo fourth in the Nordea Masters two weeks ago, the Denmark native will have plenty of reason to play his best golf in his hometown. His sixth career European Tour victory could easily happen this week.
Richard McEvoy: The Porsche European Open winner is having a career year, and the momentum he’s built could serve him well this week. After a week off, look for him to continue his strong play.
