The European Tour is back in Italy for the 2nd Annual Rocco Forte Sicilian Open. In the inaugural event last year, Alvaro Quiros won in a playoff against Zander Lombard. This year, he’s returning to defend his title against some of Europe’s best, including Italian stars Matteo Manassero and Edoardo Molinari, Ryder Cup Captain Thomas Bjorn and three-time European Tour winner Marcus Fraser.
Verdura GC will host the tournament once again. The setup consists of holes on both the East Course and West Course. Played along the Mediterranean Sea, it serves as one of the most beautiful and scenic stops on tour.
Players to Watch:
Andy Sullivan: A three-time winner on tour, he’s coming off a couple top-25 finishes in his last two starts, including a T-7 at the Trophee Hassan II. Don’t be surprised to see him in contention come Sunday.
Matteo Manassero: A steady season for Matteo thus far, he could certainly use the hometown crowds and vibe to his advantage. This could be the week he adds career victory number five to his trophy case.
