European Tour - 2018 Shot Clock Masters Wrap-Up
June 11 2018 – AARON CAMILLERI

With less than a minute for every player in the field to play every shot, the unique format of the inaugural Shot Clock Masters provided some great golf with significantly shorter rounds. In the end, Mikko Korhonen thrived in the format and delivered a great performance, winning by six strokes over Connor Syme. Starting the day five shots clear of second place, no one got within three strokes of Korhonen, and his final-round 69 was more than enough to seal the win. It is his first European Tour victory and vaults him into 35th in the Race to Dubai standings.
Over the four rounds, only four time penalties were given, two in the third round and none in the first two. Could be an interesting format to implement in more tournaments during the season.
Next week, the European Tour will be participating in the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York.
