The European Tour returns to North Africa for the ninth edition of the Trophee Hassan II in Morocco. Last year, Edoardo Molinari ended a seven-year winless drought in a playoff over Paul Dunne. He’ll defend his title against several of his fellow Ryder Cup hopefuls, including Thomas Pieters, Eddie Pepperell and Matt Wallace. This week’s event also features a fierce international presence, including Australia’s Wade Ormsby, South Africa’s George Coetzee, and Japan’s Yusaku Miyazato.
Royal Golf Dar Es Salam will host this tournament for the third straight year and fourth time overall. Scoring conditions have been tough the previous two years, with the winning scores finishing at -9 and -5, respectively.
Players to Watch
Paul Dunne: Not only was he the runner-up in last year’s event, he was also the runner-up last week. Currently 68th in the Official World Golf Ranking, expect him to move up even higher in Morocco.
Brett Rumford: A top-5 in last week’s Open de España may be just what the 30-year-old Aussie needed to get his season turned around. Look for him to continue his fine play and be a factor on Sunday.
