PGA Tour - 2018 PLAYERS Championship Preview
Posted on May 08 2018
Considered the strongest non-major field in all of golf, the PGA Tour is back at TPC Sawgrass for the 45th Annual PLAYERS Championship. Last year, Si-Woo Kim shocked the golf world with his three-stroke victory over Louis Oosthuizen and Ian Poulter for his second career Tour victory. He’ll be defending his title against, as mentioned, a stacked field, including former PLAYERS Champions Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Rickie Fowler, all of whom are paired together in the first two rounds. The event includes a strong International presence, including past champions Adam Scott and Jason Day of Australia, Spain’s Sergio Garcia, and Germany’s Martin Kaymer.
TPC Sawgrass has hosted the PLAYERS since 1982, and is well-known for testing every facet of one’s game.
Players to Watch:
Jason Day: Last week’s winner at the Wells Fargo, the 2016 PLAYERS Champ is coming into this week with a ton of confidence. He’s shown how complete his game is, and is an easy pick to play well and be in contention this week.
Rory McIlroy: Only two things are missing from his list of career achievements: a Green Jacket and a Players Championship. With the season he’s having thus far, including a win at Bay Hill, don’t be surprised to see him add another checkmark to his already impressive resume.
